PAINTING STYLE
I love colour. In my paintings I am trying to resonate with the energy of space and I work rapidly to build free-flowing layers of acrylic paints.
I lose myself within imagery of space and I let each painting I create build organically meaning the finished piece can be intense or jubilant, light or sensuous or all of the above!
I try to take each painting beyond literal representation to let the pieces speak with their own mood and atmosphere. Each painting is a one-off and each is intended to be vibrant, interesting and enjoyable. I have been told by those who enjoy my work that I am ‘a joyful painter with a natural, dynamic use of brush strokes and colour.’
EXHIBITIONS
My paintings were exhibited at the BIS Reinventing Space Conference 2023 held at The Spine, Liverpool. I also had a painting with the UKSpace Association at the UK Space Conference, 2023 held in Belfast.
I have previously exhibited my space inspired paintings at the British Interplanetary Society's Reinventing Space Conference which was held at The Royal Society, London. One work 'Orbital Tracks of Satellites in Mega Constellations' was presented as a prize at the prestigious Arthur C Clarke Awards by British Astronaut, Dr Helen Sharman.
My paintings have also previously been exhibited at Caviste, Overton and Renasci Designs Art Gallery, Overton.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I love to create paintings that are exciting and in which there are always new things to see and discover. I build my paintings by layering colour washes until they are sumptuous, rich and heady with colour. Paintbrushes, sponges, palette knives and fingertips are all used to create the finished piece! The results are paintings with a kaleidoscopic jewel-like composition of rich pigments that reveal radiance and beauty.
